I mentioned last week that I was falling behind on the kettlebell challenge and would need to make up a few days due to illness.
Holy shit, the situation quickly took a turn for the worse. I get "sick" a few times a year, but then there's always once instance per year I get SICK as a motherfucker.
Last Monday, April 21st, I woke up with a bad earache — that's nothing new. I typically come down with earaches largely because my "real job" requires me to be on the phone most of the day figuring out how to take my clients' money and make it my own. And, for some odd reason, I repeatedly use only my left ear when on the phone; I don't know why.
By Wednesday, that infection spread to the left side of my throat. Mid-weekend my entire throat felt like everything from my tonsils down to my larynx was engulfed in flames. Then Monday, April 28th (one week later), I lost my voice completely by the end of the workday. Tuesday my sinuses were infected, and then Wednesday, April 30th, I had a full upper respiratory infection. Greenish-brown mucus is still being coughed out of my lungs as I write this.
Pretty sexy, right? Anyway I could barely move, let alone swing a weight around repeatedly until my lungs burst out of my chest. For example, yesterday I didn't even get out of bed until 2:30 in the afternoon. While that was pretty common place for "College Don," the new and improved "Responsible Don" needs to show — *gulp* — some semblance of "responsibility."
I'm still feeling like absolute shit, and I know my comeuppance is yet to be resolved. We'll revisit this soon. I know you and all my other readers won't let me forget.
