There are a lot of reasons to rewatch episodes of TV shows: pure hilarity, look for clues, relive "oh, shit" moments, or just sheer boredom. These are just some examples, or at least, the ones I feel like mentioning, of episodes that deserve more than one look to give them justice.
Don't get me wrong, Dexter, the award-winning Showtime TV series about a serial killer who kills other serial killers or just other people who "deserve" to die, was a great show... until it wasn't.
Let's take a step back though: The character, Dexter Morgan, originated in the Dexter series starting with the novel "Darkly Dreaming Dexter" by Jeff Lindsay. But don't read it. For the love of God, don't! This is one case where I can truly say that the on-screen version is leaps and bounds above the book (maybe I'll write a post comparing the two later).
Dex came from a shitty beginning, seeing his mom hacked to pieces in a shipping container and then spending a few days locked in there, sitting in a pool of her blood ... Continue Reading

Lost started as a show about a remote island and some people who crashed there and a possible monster in the woods. Then somehow it morphed into a something about time travel and a mysterious set of numbers and an esoteric society. No one really knows, especially the writers.

It's hard to believe that there was a time I started watching season one of Parks and Recreation and didn't particularly care for any of the episodes — very hard to believe, actually. But, for me, the six episode story arch was rather lackluster and boring (at least the first viewing).
The characters were a mishmash of different government employees working for the small (fictional) town Pawnee ... Continue Reading
If you haven't seen The Wonder Years you're missing out on one hell of a show. When Netflix released all six season a few months ago, I damn near lost my shit, then collected my shit and sat down on a magical journey of re-enlightenment.
Not only was I remembering episodes and quotes from when I originally watched the series as a child, but they had a whole new meaning. How I interpreted them back then was totally different from how I interpreted them now, yet the overall lesson ... Continue Reading
